Security and privacy

Popcam collects as little as possible, encrypts all of it and keeps every guest’s photos private. Here’s how.

Universities and employers trust popcam with their people’s faces, so we treat every photo as personal data. We collect only what we need, protect it in transit and at rest, and use it only to deliver popcam and make it better.

How we protect your data

  • Only what we need

We collect a name, an email address and the photo. No badge scans, and no registration data from your event.

  • Encrypted everywhere

TLS 1.2 or higher in transit and AES-256 at rest, on Amazon Web Services in the United States.

  • Private by design

Each guest sees only their own photos. The group gallery is limited to your organization’s invited admins, with role-based access.

  • Nothing left on the kiosk

Photos are erased from the kiosk as soon as they upload.

  • No facial recognition

We find where a face is to crop and light it, but never identify who it is. No face matching and no biometric data.

  • Never used to train AI

Your photos aren’t used to train AI models, and we don’t use generative AI to change anyone’s appearance.

  • Deletion on request

Photos are kept so guests have lifetime access. Email support@popcam.me and we’ll delete them.

  • Insured

Popcam carries cyber liability insurance. Read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
